Silent Patient/The Fury Blog 2

Do you believe in 100 years, this novel will be considered a "classic"?  Will it stand the test of time and be something that students will be reading in an English class of the future?  Why or why not?

  1. I do not think that this book will be considered a classic for a few reasons. for one reason often when one thinks of a classic they think of a deeper message than the book lets on or simply a deep message that the book intends to let on. Either way, I personally believe that for something to be a classic it should preferably have a massage in it at some point. were as the silent patient does not. much of what the silent patient does is shock value or mysteries but as you get to the end all I really found for a message was that people suck. but as I have said this is my opinion and I may not have looked deep enough into this book to find the true message. the second reason I fail to see this book becoming a "classic" is that often, classics are the first to do something. they lead the way for other books of the same genre. In this context, I think of The Lord of the Rings books. they are considered classics by many and for good reason; they paved the way for almost all fantasy with characters and creatures. while also raising the bar that authors have to reach when writing fantasy books. a fair analogy that I can think of is that J.R.R Tolkien is to fantasy as Eminem is to rap. many people will see a fantasy book and accuse it of being a copy of Tolkien's writings. but with this book I just don't see it doing anything that hasn't already been done in the same way before. so these are the reasons why this book will not become a classic.

  2. In a 100 years I think it may actually be considered a classic I really wasn't sure at first at all but it shows many things that classics have like this book is sort of groundbreaking most people have not read any kind of books that has a ending like this one does or a concept like it. Another reason it was great character development the characters all develop a lot and in a certain way too which is shown in many classics and at the end it leaves you thinking is anyone really good? which is super relevant in any year. This book shows promise to become a classic in the future I simply didn't think so at first but the relevance, themes, characters groundbreaking ending/subject and story are more than likely to withstand the test of time. However this book is super unlikely to be read in English classes in the future just because it explores some rather mature themes and content but if there was a class where you could read individualized it would totally be acceptable.

  3. In one hundred years, I do not think this book will be considered a classic. Even though I enjoyed the book, I feel there are many books that discuss the same topics and have a similar setting. Also, most books that are considered classics aren't in the Thriller genre. Another reason I don't think this will be considered a classic is because there are very few books that many people would call classics. Overall, I enjoyed the book but don't see this being a classic in 100 years.

  4. In 100 hundred years I do not think the book The Silent Patient will be considered a classic book that young readers will pick up. I enjoyed reading the book, but I think since there are more authors that are starting to write this book that will most likely discuss similar topics. The Silent Patient is mostly about thriller, people getting attacked, killed, stocked, and a mystery and people that read those books will probably not even pick up the book The Silent Patient because it doesn't have an attractive cover to draw people to read the book if they like thriller and mysteries. This book will maybe stay the test of time for maybe 10 more years but it won't be what kids in 30 years will read in English class if they are not forced to read the book. This book has really good character development that makes the characters grow throughout the book but I definitely don't consider this as a classic. I overall enjoyed the book and it was a good book that leaves you thinking and questioning the characters but I do believe that I don't see this book being a popular for young readers in 100 years.

  5. In 100 years I do not think this book is going to be a classic. Although it was super good compared to books that are considered a classic, like To Kill A Mockingbird, they do not have the same type of vibes. The Fury was a suspenseful read and had a lot of mystery to it and that us the type of book I like to read so that is why I enjoyed reading it. I do think this author should get some type of award for how he writes because he makes the best mystery books out there. He is definitely one of my favorite authors. So maybe this book will not be considered a classic I think people will still read it for a long time and keep giving credit to this amazing author.

  6. In 100 years I do not think The Fury will be a classic. I did really like this book but normally classics have a deeper meaning and lesson to them and this book was just a good read. I do think that this book will stick around for awhile though because of how good it was and how well it was written. This author is amazing and I have no clue how he comes up with these types of books because what happens you would never ever guess and it was so crazy. I love this authors books and I want to read all of his books.

  7. I do not think that the book The Fury will be considered a classic in 100 years. I did really enjoy this book, but it doesn't have a deep message/meaning that most classics do. The Fury was a mystery and had me guessing the whole way and you don't see those characteristics in most classic novels. I do think that people should read The Fury because it is an amazing book, it is just not a classic.
