What components does your book have to make it a page-turner? Or was this book a little slow to get started? Was there a point where you just couldn't put it down? Or did you struggle getting through it? Please provide examples.
I would say two components that made this book a page turner were its suspense and interesting characters. The fact that the characters seemed suspicious and had their own faults created more tension in the book. Both Max and Jean-Felix's behavior regarding Alicia was strange and suspicious. Their behavior made me want to keep reading to figure out the truth and what happened between them. Towards the end was also another point of the book where it was hard to put down. An example of this is when we see Alicia's diary entry from the night that Gabriel was murdered. The moments leading up to this point still left me with confusion so continuing to read felt like an easy decision.
ReplyDeleteI think this book was a definite page turning. I honestly d0ont think there was a single slow moment is this book because i think the author kept his readers on there toes. When reading this book i could not put it down because even if i did i would find myself thinking about it. an component that made this book a page turner was that the author made everyone sound suspicion there was so many point pointing to certain people being the killer and with Alicia's diary entry it made it even better. i didn't want to put the book down because every chapter ended left me in confusion but also intrigued and wanting to know more . and i could not put it down especially toward the end when Alicia was in that coma the rest of the book was just amazing. When Alicia was writing about what happened the night Gaberial died and the event that took place it was a page turner but i also could not stop reading it. This book could be an great example of a page turner.
ReplyDeleteThe book was such a page turner since it kept you wanting answers and guessing what really happened on the night that Gabriel died. I couldn't put it down, whenever I got to Alicia's parts because since she was silent I didn't know who she was really or anything about her and I kept reading there especially since I wanted to learn more. Also I couldn't put it down in part four when it was revealed what happened on the night Gabriel was killed since it was so shocking and I was really eager to see what would happen next and how the conclusion of the book would make sense. This book definitely has all the components of a page turner with wondering who done it, what's going to happen next, is Alicia innocent, and much more questions than answers so you just had to keep reading.
ReplyDeleteOne definite component that made (the silent patient) hard to put down was the constant change in the story. What I mean by this is that the story does not keep one suspect and one good guy the whole story. It will often make you think that one person is a good guy and make you not like another character at all but then the book will change things up a ton and the person you once liked you now despise and the person you didn't like you now sympathize with. This made me want to know who was the good guy and who was the bad guy but as soon as I thought I knew someone was the good guy and someone was the bad guy the book switched it up on me. This kept me in constant unrest until I finished the book and got all the answers. The second is that the characters and conflict are shrouded in a grey area. This means that everything that people do has some good things and some bad things but I was unable to definitively say whether I liked or disliked them (for the most part). I say this because some people were just not likable, but the ones who took on this persona never played that large of a part in the story ( such as Lydia Rose, or Elif). This book was the opposite of hard to pick up and read. This may be the fastest read I have ever read. Often times a book this size takes me a week and a half to three weeks but this one only took me four days because of the reasons I have just explained. This book was not hard to get started reading at all and if not for all the sexual content it would be in my top ten favorites.
ReplyDeleteThis book was certainly a page turner because it kept answering your questions that you had when reading the book. When reading I was guessing and wanting answer on if Alicia actually killed Gabriel that night or if someone broke in and killed him. When I figured out who actually killed Gabriel it was extremely shocking that at first I did not believe until I realized that the book only focused on the main character and sometimes Alicia but mostly on Theo. Reading Alicia's diary entries it clicked inside my head knowing that it was not Alicia that killed Gabriel, it was the person in the black clothing that was watching her all the time. When it got to part where Alicia knew who the person was I did not want to put the book down, I wanted to keep reading to figure out who the actual person that killed Gabriel and then pined it on Alicia. I also could not put the book down when the part of the night that Gabriel was murdered because I was so interested in how Gabriel died and how Alicia got pinned on the murder of her husband. I was so eager to reach the end of the book because I wanted to know what they would do to the actually killer but the book ended on a bad cliff hanger leaving me wondering if the guy new who the killer actually was. This book defiantly has the components of a page turner because it leaves you questioning after every chapter that you read and wanting to read more wanting to know what happens next in the next chapters. It gets you questioning, is Alicia innocent, who is the man stalking Alicia, who is Kathy cheating with, what is Alicia's family members hiding, and much more, all these questions just makes you to keep reading to find out the correct answers.
ReplyDeleteThe Fury had 5 parts of the book and I would say the most boring part was the forth section. The first part was really good and it introduced me to the characters. All of the chapters were really short and that's what I love because it make me feel like I am reading the book faster. The fourth section was all about the month leading up to the killing and explained why Elliot had the motivation to kill Lana. It was a drag because he was talking about random stuff but in the end it was all information that helped me realize why Elliot is so crazy. This book was definitely a page turner and if you liked The Silent Patient, you would love The Fury too.
ReplyDeleteOMG! I loved this book and it was definitely my favorite book we have read this tri. This author is one of my favorites and I do not know how he just comes up with this stuff. There is always a twist going on and it makes the entire book a page turner. I also really like how short the chapters are because I just keep reading. I think right once the first part ended I did not want to stop reading this book because it was such a fast paced good read.
ReplyDeleteThe book The Fury was most definitely a page turner. I didn't think there were even parts of the book that were slow, of course it can't be action the whole entire book but there were never points in the book where I was uninterested in reading. It was the way that the author writes that is made in a pager turner for me. The author sets up the book, so you think you know what is going to happen, but he flips it backwards. I would say the last 60ish pages left my jaw dropped and kept me reading. The fury was my favorite book we have read this trimester because it just kept me guessing
