I believe that Magnolia Parks is a great example of a young adult novel. The problems that the characters had to face like drug addictions and being stuck on one person really fit the genre of young adult. Magnolia and BJ started dating when they were young and that affected them in a lot of more ways than they could imagine. The characters may have been a little unrealistic because they were famous and got a lot of attention, but all of their problems fit into the genre. I like this book because I got to see them grow, especially Magnolia because she had a lot of stuff going on in her life at this time. This book represents getting faced with hardship and learning how to deal with it. Magnolia Parks was an all-around great book to read.
I think that Magnolia Parks is a good example of a young adult novel. I believe that is because of the themes and topics of the book. BJ and Magnolia are young in the book but they have known each other since they were young, and the majority of the relationship took place when they were young adults/teenagers. Because of BJ and Magnolia dating when they were young, they carry trauma and the issues of their relationship still as adults. The topics in the book I felt really represent a young adult novel. For example, drug use, social media, teenage dating. The book shows how the hardships you face in relationships when you are young can affect you greatly when you are older.
The conflicts and topic of this book make it a good example of young adult literature. It shows how different characters try to deal with their problems. BJ suffers through addiction and suicidal thoughts while trying to get over Magnolia. Both BJ and Magnolia deal with their friendships and the media complicating their relationship. This shows how your family and friends can change aspects of your relationship. The book represents other young adult books because of topics like drug use and relationship problems. Overall, this book is a great representation of young adult books.
I believe that Magnolia Parks was an okay example of a contemporary young adult novel. The struggles, the problems, and the heartbreak that the characters had to face like drug addiction, getting cheated on, and being stuck to one person that all you could think of is that one person fits what young adult books are all about. Magnolia and BJ started dating when they were young and that affected their relationship more than they thought it did. It affected their romantic relationship and mostly their friendship they can’t have both, especially once they break up. The characters were so dramatic and unrealistic because they were all daddy’s rich girls and boys and got much attention, but all the problems that they faced fit in the genre of a young adult read. I did not like this book because it was the same thing on repeat on how Magnolia kept seeing BJ kissing another girl and then running away back to her boyfriend Tom and then BJ apologizing to Magnolia saying that it won’t happen again but 3 chapters later it happens again and she forgives him all the time and he tries to win her back every time. This book represents getting faced with struggles in a relationship and trying to forgive the other person but keep finding out they are making the same mistakes all the time and just waiting to be forgiven and not getting broken up with because that is exactly how Magnolia and BJ are. They are dragging themselves behind each other and forgiving each other thinking that their relationship can go back to normal which in the end it never did, and they broke everything off permantly especially their friendship.
What story elements (character, plot, mood, conflict, theme, etc.) are present in this book to make it "young adult"? What intrigued you the most about this book? What will you remember most about this book?
