Do you believe in 100 years, this novel will be considered a "classic"? Will it stand the test of time and be something that students will be reading in an English class of the future? Why or why not?

I do not think magnolia parks will be considered a classic for a couple reasons. The first being that it doesn’t really represent many universal themes since the book is a romance. To illustrate, usually many people would choose to pick up a romance book as a quick lighthearted read and just have the desire to enjoy the book. When a book is considered a classic, I feel like those books usually have a lot of depth to them in different ways than a romance novel. This also brings me into why I do not think this book would be read in an English class in the future. Yes, I do think the way this book is written really connects to readers out age, but Magnolia Parks would more than likely be seen as inappropriate for most English classes. And as I mentioned before, I do not think a class would get very much deeper intent or questioning when reading this book as much as just something they enjoyed reading in school.
ReplyDeleteI do not think that Magnolia Parks will be considered a classic in the future. Yes, it was a good book but I do not think it represents much of a theme because it is a romance book. I feel like young adults will still be reading it because it is a fun read because of the drama that occurs in the novel but it also needs to be a mature reader. The book talks about how BJ and Parks just get back together so many times after everything they have hurt each other with and that should not be a message students should think is ok.
ReplyDeleteI do not believe that in 100 years Magnolia Parks will become a classic novel. This book was a very interesting romance book but I think that there are so many romance books and authors will continue to make romance books that this one will not stand out in any way. The writing of this book did stand out because we got to see text messages being sent from two of the characters and we got to see flashbacks on what happened in the past. That was different from other books that I have read but I don't think it's enough to become a classic. I enjoyed Magnolia Parks, but I also think that you must like romance books to consider this book good in the first place. I think this book will continually get read in the future, but I would not consider it a classic novel.
ReplyDeleteI do not believe that Magnolia Parks will be a classic in 100 years. It was a very good book but the message behind the book just wasn't deep enough for it to be a classic. I also think that the message is evident in the first couple chapters and you wouldn't need to finish it to know the message. With the genre being romance I think that also makes it less likely to be a classic just because that is not a genre that lots of people are a fan of. I thought it was good light hearted read but not great enough to be a classic.
ReplyDeleteI don’t think that Magnolia Parks will be considered a classic in 100 years or the future. It was an okay book, but I don’t see a theme with the book because it’s just a romance book and a lot of drama that was so underrated. I feel like young adults will still read it because why wouldn’t they it's a romance book and so many girls love romance, all the drama that it occurs in the book but it also needs to be a matured read for people that can handle reading about people making love and not have overreact about it happening. The book just repeats itself by BJ and Magnolia getting back together multiple times after hurting each other which should not be a message that young adults should be reading about especially for students reading the book in an English class which this book is not a good book to read in a classroom setting. This book would not be assigned for 8th or 7th graders to read this book and then talk about it because once they read it they will probably get the mindset that if you mess up multiple times with the girl that you love she will take you back even if you cheat on her. Thats not how relationships work that is called a toxic relationship and not how a girl should be treated when trying to win her back after the mistake that you made.
ReplyDeleteIn 100 years I do not think this book will be considered a classic. Although it addresses some serious topics like drug abuse and family issues, it is very repetitive, and those serious topics aren't the main topic of the book. Most of the book involves BJ and Magnolia's complicated relationship. It is repetitive because BJ and Magnolia are constantly forgiving each other and then splitting apart. If the book spent more time talking about those topics, it would be more likely to become a classic.
